More Location Scouting
I hit the road on Sunday, and again on Monday, looking for locations to a few portrait sessions– you can view one of them here — as well as some personal work I’d like to pursue this summer.
For what I had/have in mind, I wanted to find a few abandoned farmsteads, and a couple of derelict vehicles, so I headed out to the prairies of eastern Colorado, where it’s not uncommon to find such things.

I guess I had luck on my side, because I stumbled onto a few locations that fit perfectly with what I was imagining.

Rescue Bunny
My sister works at a rehab center for at-risk youth that has an outdoor program, where juvenile criminals gain experience to re-enter society working in community gardens. This afternoon, while she was outside with the kids, they witnessed a pair of prairie falcons hunting. This little guy was the lone survivor of the attack. With it’s siblings and mother gone, they decided to try rescuing him.

Signs of Spring?
After wrapping up a busy day, it was nice to see a few signs of spring popping up around Denver.

Happy New Year!

I just wanted to take a moment to say how profoundly grateful I am to the clients who have trusted me, the friends who have encouraged me, and the family that’s always met even my goofiest ideas with love and support.
I’m incredibly thankful for every opportunity you’ve given me to challenge myself, expand my skills, and stretch my imagination.
Collaborating with others to shape an ethereal idea into a tangible, finished product is easily one of my greatest joys in life, and I feel insanely lucky to take a crack at it almost every single day.
Thank you so much to everyone who has shared their ambitions, their time, their enthusiasm, and their brilliance with me. I’m continuously inspired by your energy, humbled by your courage, and utterly appreciative of your confidence that I can get the job done.
It’s been a true pleasure.
Thank you!
I spent this New Year’s Eve, playing bass with On Second Thought, opening for long-time Colorado favorites, The Samples.
Here’s a few snapshots I took during the opener, Highway 50′s, sound-check.
Thanks to everyone who came out and made it such a special evening! It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces, and meet some fantastic new folks as well! All the best to you in 2013– may it be filled with as much joy, fulfillment and love as you can handle!

One of my best friends, Tage Plantell, the guitarist from On Second Thought, chats with a pal before the show.

Drumming legend, Mike Rice, takes a moment to warm up after hauling gear in from the cold. It was FREEZING outside! 5 degrees!

If you like watching great drummers, last night was a pretty remarkable one. Here’s Kenny James mugging for the camera. He’s toured with George Clinton and the P-Funk All-Stars, 24-7 Spyz and countless others, including On Second Thought, back in the day. He’s in a sling after shoulder surgery, but I imagine it won’t be long until he’s back behind a kit, tearing people’s faces off.

This is Jeep, original drummer for The Samples, and probably my favorite reggae drummer of all-time, right after Stewart Copeland of The Police. It was an absolute treat to see him play with Highway 50, and a few tunes with The Samples as the evening went on.
So much fun!
