Flight Bikes – 3D Logos
UPDATE: Played around with some animation in After Effects, trying out some new techniques and working in a little practice with the Element 3D plugin.
Flight Bikes had to take a little time away from the website I’m designing for them to focus on manufacturing goals, but the project is back up and running full-speed towards a launch– hopefully before the holidays.
As I was wrapping up their homepage, the client asked if I could create a 3D version of their logo.(Created by the company owner, it has kind of a cool, retro “G.I. Joe” vibe, don’t ya think?)
Shown here are a couple of quick renders I put together today. I did one version in Cinema 4D, and the other two using Video Copilot’s new Element 3D plugin for After Effects.
It’s a little unconventional to use AE for a static 3D rendering, but given the nature of the logo, it actually turned out to be a great tool for the job, turning out pretty solid results in about 1/4 of the time it took in C4D. I’ll definitely look to that solution again when I need simple3D extrusions. Worked great, and FAST!

WIP: Flight Bikes

I started work on some initial homepage concepts last week for Flight Bikes, a Colorado-based company who offers custom Mountain Bike components, apparel, and other gear aimed at athletes and outdoor sports enthusiasts. Should be a fun project to work on.
