Case Study: Blockbuster | Redesign
Given their rocky history of late, Blockbuster has created itself quite a hill to climb, which makes the job all that more challenging, and makes me feel even more flattered that they asked me to help out.
I’m really looking forward to working with their brilliant new creative team to help Blockbuster re- establish a sense of goodwill with the public, and re-earn the trust of their customer base.
My Roles
- Web Design
I was recently asked to contribute a series of homepage concepts and UI elements for the soon-to-be-redesigned Blockbuster website.
As a brand, Blockbuster had become a little tarnished in recent years, taking substantial hits to their bottom line, and their reputation with customers.
With their recent acquisition by Dish Network and subsequent restructuring, the company is making a concerted effort to restore their foothold in the industry, and regain the faith of their customers.
Now based in Denver, Colorado, Blockbuster has completely re-staffed it's creative and marketing teams, taking on well-respected creatives like Jerry Lundwal (who lead The Denver Post to much acclaim during it's peak) and Danny Vigil (Pixel People, Mosaic Globe, Brand New, C.H.A.C., etc.).
In their effort to employ local talent, and bring in an entirely fresh set of eyes and new ideas, Vigil called on me to pitch a collection of ideas to replace the somewhat clunky and dated look of Blockbuster's current online properties.
