Case Study: Flyin’ Lion Aviation

My Roles
- Branding
Flyin' Lion Aviation is an aircraft maintenance facility in Lakeland, FL that caters to independent pilots and small, fixed-wing planes.
After a few really fun, inspiring conversations with the company's founder, I learned that we shared a mutual love of vintage aircraft and Art Deco design, specifically, the Streamline Moderne movement of the 1930's -- weird Bakelite radios and toasters that look like Flash Gordon's rocket ship. That kinda' thing.
With that in mind, I went to work on some identity concepts, using illustrative elements and typography that reflected both the company and that wonderful era in design.
The result, hopefully, is a logo that wouldn't look out of place on the tail of a DC-10 in an Indiana Jones movie.
