Inventive, original design has always been a hallmark of Liquid Compass, and has long-served to set their products apart from their competitors.
During the time I served as their Creative Director, the company worked very hard to garner a reputation for building some of the best streaming interfaces in the industry. So when they decided to depart from their elaborate Flash products and create a new line of HTML 5 media players that placed speed and efficiency ahead of form, they knew they were going to rock a few boats.
Rather than relying on wild shapes and intricate Flash animation as they had in the past, the Pro 2.0 line of players aims to impress users with blazing fast load-times and increased functionality, with the interface being largely transparent and unobtrusive.
The challenge in creating a promo reel for something deliberately flat and utilitarian became "how do I present something that's designed to *not* call attention to itself?".
To up the ante, I was given one week to produce this piece. Happily, everyone was very pleased with what I came up with, especially in light of the time-crunch.
The music in the video is "Genesis", by Justice.
